Classic Good Time, October 15, 2020This was one of my favorites in the 2019 Xyzzy Awards, a fun surprise for classic parser fans like me. The world feels very old-school with its own twists, and the puzzles gave me enough variety without getting overly complex or difficult. I didn't find it terribly ambitious or deep, but it was a pleasant play and just the kind of fun I wanted from it.

Creating The World In A Short Text Adventure, July 7, 2016It's a pretty short game, with a lot of things that might take less decoding if I knew the source material (but are fun regardless), but it takes an interesting approach to its themes and has a lot of options for a short game. I played it in a group, as I usually do, and it made us discuss stuff more than usual, instead of always trying things until something worked. It's thoughtful, and made me wish I'd been more thoughtful as a player. Kinda makes me want to go back and mess around with the things that I treated like red herrings, when I could have done more. And yeah, I should probably read some Jenna Moran.
