Spaceship fixing fun, March 20, 2024
by IkeC

The setting may be a bit overused, but since I hadn't already played a lot of games like this it felt fresh enough for me.

The game runs in a single terminal window, no status line, just input and output with some colored text. The custom parser worked surprisingly well for me, being a native speaker that is.

The game gives pretty detailed descriptions about the environment, maybe slightly too detailed sometimes but overall well written and interesting, even though most items are pretty much what you'd expect on a space freighter.

Atmosphere, balance and flow are just fine, not too many rooms and not too many items, and the puzzles are not too hard. The (Spoiler - click to show)weight limit was slightly cumbersome, especially since you have to (Spoiler - click to show)take off all gear to carry the bar, but that was pretty much the only minor annoyance I found.

Would gladly play a sequel!

Bring back the 80s, March 19, 2024
by IkeC

A rather short C64 text adventure set in an (almost) deserted polar station. The puzzles are pretty easy and there are no real surprises here. The parser is quite limited, but since it's hard to get stuck that's not really an issue.

I wish the game would have given (or told me) a shortcut so I didn't have to type 'Untersuche' so often, a brief info screen would have been useful.

Playing this on a C64 emulator along with this setting gave me nice 1980s retro vibes. Worth checking out!

A deamon that just wants to go back to sleep, March 19, 2024
by IkeC

You can switch between being human and being a deamon with one click, which changes some of the descriptions. The room and character descriptions are rather short but well written and funny.

The puzzles are nothing special but there's enough variety here to keep you entertained, and they're not too easy even though this is a Gruescript game where you pretty much just need to click on everything.

The end game is also nice, rewarding and funny. Probably my favorite German IF game in 2023.

An entertaining Gruescript game with a historical background, March 19, 2024
by IkeC

Nice little locations and descriptions, but the focus lies on small puzzle rooms and finding/combining objects.

The (Spoiler - click to show)handwritten note puzzle didn't work well for me, especially as it (seemingly) clashes with the info you get from a character.

Inventory items are represented by pixel graphics which adds a nice touch, as well as the images for the (Spoiler - click to show)house plan you can find.

The description of the big 'thing' you finally find is a bit underwhelming, especially regarding what it is. This being a Gruescript game, sometimes you might just end up clicking through your inventory items to see if something changes, but on the other hand that makes the game easier to finish if you're stuck. Recommended.

Fun, March 19, 2024
by IkeC

Another fun game by Olaf, there's also an English version available by now. I liked the story, setting and unique characters. The end game was a bit fiddly for me and I found navigating around the ship to be a bit cumbersome, but that's nothing to keep you from playing this game.

A well written short story, March 19, 2024
by IkeC

A pretty well written short story that shouldn't take more than half an hour to complete. There are not many different paths to take, but the atmosphere and plot are interesting enough to follow thorugh the conclusion. The end is a bit short and not fully satisfying, and I could have done with less love interest, but overall totally worth the time spent.
