Una historia contemplativa en el sentido más literal. Adoptamos el papel de un anónimo espíritu que asiste a los últimos momentos de la familia Tsugonawa en un Japón devastado en el ocaso de la guerra. A través de este ente vacuo podremos conocer un trozo de la vida de esta sencilla familia que se prepara, como otras tantas, para esa peregrinación, ese vagar sin destino que parece ser el sino ineludible de los inocentes en todo conflicto bélico.
Y como espíritu que somos, poco podemos hacer para cambiar los acontecimientos. Tan sólo observar y lamentar.
