Short but ingenious game, November 23, 2010

I really enjoyed this. It's small, but the game environment is really fun and humorous. I have recently been reviving my interest in IF, and was rewarded with a challenging game that was just challenging enough to keep the interests up very high. I think that the author did a great job of cluing in subtle text to keep the world really alive. tick tick tick.

Not Quite Useless, November 22, 2010
by tggdan3 (Michigan)

I first read some of the other reviews on this site. Apparantly the game is supposed to be unwinnable. It's not- I won it on the second playthrough.

Your cat is ticking. It must have swallowed a bomb. I thought this was funny- such a simple premise: survive the explosion of your cat. The parser keeps the tension up by reminding you of that damn ticking throughout the game.

There were some implementation issues: listen to ticking doesn't exist, bed is not a synonym for mattress, and so forth, but nothing horrible. (Some more testing would have handled this).

Of course, there's a twist to the puzzle, which is why it may seem unwinnable at first. When you figure it out, you smack yourself. There are some nice touches- such as when you try to get rid of the cat out the door or window, great reasons for why this is not possible. And the sparse apartment is well described.

To those reviewers, I suggest they try a re-play of this game. I gave 3 stars, some cleanup of the implementation would earn 4.

First IF, November 22, 2010

This was the first IF I ever played to a conclusion, and while I recognize that it has a simplistic design compared to many of the other games out there, I very much enjoyed it. I thought there wasn't an ending, but it was so amusing that I didn't feel discouraged each time I lost. Instead, I tried it multiple times until my roommate and I figured it out.

Overall, I'd say it's a very interesting IF for people who are newer to the genre, but for the more experienced users it might be too simple.

Very, very, funny; very, VERY, useless, January 14, 2010
by NosesAreAlive (Noseland, Noseland)

There is no point in playing this at all, but it's very funny and I will send my evil noses to sniff you to death unless you download it right this instant.

You see, if everything is concrete and as a point, it is simple utilitarianism. I believe that everybody should at least have a fair look at a game like this, if not this exact one, just for some relief from hopeless zork stuff.

Being Blown To Bits Can Be Funny, July 11, 2009
by AmberShards (The Gothic South)

The concept here is comedic; the execution is also fairly humorous, although having the parser yell at you every other turn can be a bit grating. As far as I can tell, there's no way to win, so a gaming session consists of exploring a pedestrian apartment spiced with humorous descriptions and ends with you being blown to bits. There's not much in the way of replay value and it won't win any awards for its prose, but it's enjoyable for what it is: a good way to spend ten or fifteen minutes on a lazy day.
