About the Story

After a night on the town goes wrong, self-proclaimed ace private investigator Mr. Readjustment finds himself unwittingly caught up in a web of intrigue involving missing persons, wealthy gadabouts, and dehydrated walruses. Mr. Readjustment must use his keen observational skills and flawless logic to unravel the truth, harnessing the mysterious psychological power of "chunking."

"All told, then, I was more interested in the gameplay mechanic than I was in the story and setting. That said, I’m really happy to see people doing this kind of work with puzzle mechanics. With some revisions and a stronger narrative voice, the full game could be very good."

Hidden Exit
Chunky Blues offers a glimpse at something memorable
"Despite the niggles, the unfolding story and cool memory mechanic did draw me in some, and I felt compelled to see the intro through. By the look of my score at the end (100 out of 1500?) this slice of game has a lot more to offer, but I am a busy man, with multitudes of games to chew on.

Chunky’s authors, if they decide to continue development, will apparently be fleshing out a larger city, and setting a number of “unnecessarily complicated systems” to make it tick. The sort of sandbox play this implies is exactly what I want to see more of in interactive fiction, so I’m hoping very much to see them carry on and do it properly."

"Overall, I really like the memory inventory idea, but the ideas still seem rough at this point, like all the bits that sounded good are all still in there, but they need to be reduced for the game to find itself. Sometimes a joke or a scene or an NPC just won't fit - don't wedge it in, but copy and paste it into a file of 'good ideas' and let it find its real home in another piece somewhere along the line. As for memory - well, I think this has the potential to lead to a good few, different, endgames existing and that's one of my favorite things on IF."
