About the Story

You've been driving for hours and time is running out as night begins to fall. In the back seat, a boy writhes in pain with every passing minute. The city lights have faded and the woods grow thick and all that's left for you is to navigate a ritual aimed just as much to help the boy as to save you from a fate far worse.

Instincts is an atmospheric and interactive narrative experience.

You can control the ambient sounds by way of a collapsible side bar located to the left of your browser. Instincts has been played in various popular browsers, but may fail to fully function in others. It has been optimized for use in Firefox.

A short branching Twine game about a ritual and your child, August 4, 2020

Related reviews: less than 15 minutes

This is a fairly-well put together Twine game with background sounds. You are driving down a road late at night, and you need to abandon your child in the woods.

The writing was descriptive and the game was fairly polished, but it felt a little short for the heavy themes being developed, and many choices lead to early deaths, making it more of a gauntlet structure.

As a small, self-contained Twine game, though, I think it's successful. Maybe I just wanted a longer and more involved version of the same story?
