 Visually NSFW, Not Much Else, March 1, 2014by forgepoet Wow. A "NSFW" label on a work of interactive fiction REALLY does not do enough to warn folks that an explicit (Spoiler - click to show)(foot-long erect penis) photo will be displayed. Seemed especially out of place given that none of the other branches (as far I could find) had anything visually explicit in them even though the text says you're sending adult photos. This one has copious warning signs that it is not kid-friendly before the explicit picture appears. forgepoet, March 4, 2014 - Reply It would be as silly to try and label every single game that has objectionable (and note, objectionable is an opinion) content as to label every book in a library. I think noting "has graphics" and "adult" would be plenty of warning (or encouragement, depending on the curiosity of the viewer). But then again, I don't really care if kids see anatomical photos. It's just a part of the human body (albeit a, ahem, statistically unlikely one). Nothing nearly as horrible as you'd find browsing TMZ the day after a Walking Dead episode airs (or as explicit as you'd see if you typo'd entering a URL). I wasn't sure whether to be more explicit (pun not intended) or not, since it's part of the effect. (Personally, I see this as an amusing comment on personal games and Twine, but I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste.) forgepoet, March 1, 2014 - Reply I'm familiar with the kind of game you're referring to, but what makes this a comment on games like that instead of just an example of them? There are no jokes, no parody, no "over the top" exaggerations. No impact at all other than a single anatomical photo most people won't slog through long enough to see. I guess I just don't get it.
