About the Story

"It is said that the night was rough and the seas high when she first rounded the headland and many of the local folk felt sure she was destined to join old Davey Jones at the bottom of the sea. However, her crew struggled manfully with her rigging and brought her about just in time to miss the dreaded "needles". Suddenly there was a lull in the storm and she managed to get her head around to face the open sea. They say it was a fine sight as she turned, sails a'billowing, but fate casts a strange hand at times and the storm rose up again just as quickly as it had first abated. Tossed like a cork on the dark waters she was last seen breaching a bank of thick sea mist." My companion picked up his tankard and took a long swig. "So you see, she could still be out there to this day, just waiting for some lucky so-and-so to find her and the riches she contains."
