The Year of Adventure

2016 is the fortieth anniversary year of Crowther and Woods' original Adventure (also known as ADVENT, Colossal Cave, or Colossal Cave Adventure) – possibly the first work of computer interactive fiction.

To commemorate this anniversary THE YEAR OF ADVENTURE is a year-round, free-form, non-competitive jam for games and interactive stories inspired by, paying homage to, or otherwise related to Adventure or other early works of IF, running from now until the end of 2016.

Submissions can be of any length, developed in any system, parser, choice, hypertext, dice-and-paper or anything else, and may be (but are not limited to):

- "cover versions" or reimaginings of the original Adventure (which is in the public domain)
- revisits to old games, showing them from new perspectives or using new trends in IF technology
- retro-style games evocative of the early IF era

Games will be published throughout the year as they come in. If you want to create one, go ahead! Please let me know at robindouglasjohnson@gmail.com (or just add it here) and I'll put it on the jam's website.

There are no judges and no prizes. Everybody wins.

Games entered into other jams/competitions are ok – for example, you can submit your 2016 IFComp game, as long as you abide by the rules of IFComp and don't submit it here till after the IFComp closes.
