Apocalypse How - an IFDB Poll

Post-apocalyptic games: equal parts cliche and fun. Authors are free to dispense with pesky NPCs, complicated modern technology, and implementing working everyday items. Players can have no inhibitions about acting like murderous kleptomaniacs. What are your favorite (and least favorite) games that take place after the end?

I should note that Dead Hotel isn't actually a postapocalyptic setting, strictly speaking, as the game takes place mid-zombie invasion, and it's implied in the backstory that everywhere else other than New York is still doing just fine.

Oh, I didn't notice that. Sorry.

Given the apparent paucity of postapocalyptic interactive fiction, Dead Hotel's inclusion is probably no great tragedy. Especially as there's no 'onset-of-a-possible-apocalypse' genre!

The phrase "equal parts cliche and fun" parses as redundant; it's like saying "equal parts PURE AWESEOME and PURE AWESOME." :)

Well, yeah!

Now if only we had more such games :(

You're right; post-apocalyptic should be a natural genre for IF. Strangely, I don't remember running into very many post-apocalyptic IF works at all. I would love to play a text adventure with a theme like The Road or The Book of Eli, etc.
