One of the greatest text adventures ever, September 26, 2011
by frsh

This is the way it should always be done. The atmosphere is never ruined by silly inside jokes or pseudo intellectual political statements. The atmosphere is just perfect. Once you get to the castle it feels a lot like Shadowgate but with more interaction with NPCs (Spoiler - click to show)when the doctor is chasing you your pulse really rises. It has a time limit (Spoiler - click to show)once you become a vampire you may die of hunger. Some items in the castle are completely useless so you are not likely to finish the game on the first or second run without some experimentation. You have to write lots of notes and that's part of the greatness of this game. It never gets boring thanks to the awesome story and the flawless atmosphere. There are only a couple of references to Looney Tunes, Tin Tin and other stuff that never break the atmosphere.
Play it. And do not use a walkthrough. Part of the enjoyment is to figure stuff out by yourself writing notes. You don't want to finish it in 45 minutes (totally possible with a walkthrough, since the game is not terribly long).

Gunstar Heroes... the text adventure, September 25, 2011
by frsh

It feels a lot like playing Gunstar Heroes for Sega Genesis but turn based, text only and in "boss only" mode. For some reason I kept picturing everything in my mind as if it was rendered with the graphical style of Gunstar Heroes while I was playing the game. Yes, even the romance... And I'm not even a big Sega Genesis fan, I just remembered playing Gunstar Heroes a very long time ago and Gun.Mute brought that memory back.

Excellent Idea, September 25, 2011

The concept is fantastic... too bad it's implemented in what appears to be a rushed job. It's full of misspellings, it's too short when the idea really lent itself to do way much more. Comedy, ninjas, 80's camp, etc. It's such a wasted opportunity. The humor is good. It's a great way to kill 5 minutes (if that). Some of the puzzles are very well thought out like (Spoiler - click to show)the last puzzle which has a lot to do with how much attention you've been paying to the descriptions throughout the game specially when you pick up everything up and what constitutes the greatest shame to a delivery ninja while some others are really dumb (Spoiler - click to show)like putting extremely hot oil in a bottle so that someone else mistakes it for a soft drink, that just doesn't make any sense at all. All in all the game is O.K., I wish the author would release a new version or a sequel where the idea is more fleshed out. I loved the experience as little as it lasted.

Good game, September 24, 2011

It does have some bugs and it gets confused with words a lot (try pouring the fountain water in the bucket while you have the water of life in your inventory, this results in a bug, so don't do it). You have to be very specific with the parser. There are some puzzles where there is the possibility of making the game unwinnable if you don't want to resort to violence (Spoiler - click to show)when you try to recover your things from the ferrymen. There should be another way to take your things back from them other than killing them with the sword, that solution besides being generic and uncreative is not very well thought out on behalf of the author, also if (Spoiler - click to show)you don't rescue the hawk in time, etc.
So. It's a little bit buggy with one really badly designed puzzle (the ferrymen) but all in all it's a pretty enjoyable experience.
